Need help with Twofold? Most answers are below. If you're still stuck, email support@example.com. Please never send us your passwords, recovery kit or vault details. We don't need them and never ask for them.

Setting up

How do I add my partner or family?

Open Family → Add member on your phone, and on theirs choose Join my family's vault. Scan their code, pick their role (Owner, Editor or Viewer) and add them; then they scan yours. Check both phones show the same pair number.

What is the recovery kit?

A printable page with your recovery key: 14 short groups of letters and numbers. With it you can open your vault on a new phone even if you forget your master password. Print it, and keep it with your important papers or in a bank locker.

Syncing

Our phones aren't syncing

Make sure both phones are on the same Wi-Fi network with Twofold open, then tap Sync on the Family tab. On iPhone, check Settings → Twofold → Local Network is on. Some guest or office networks block phones from seeing each other; home Wi-Fi works best.

Two of us changed the same item

Twofold keeps both versions and marks one as a conflict copy, so nothing is lost. Open it, keep the right details and delete the other.

New or lost phone

I got a new phone

Install Twofold and choose Restore from a backup. Pick your Google Drive (sign in to the same Google account) or a backup file you saved, then enter your master password or recovery key. You can also choose Join my family's vault and pair again with a family member's phone.

I lost my phone

Your vault on it is encrypted and locked. From another family member's phone, open Family and remove the lost phone. Twofold will then change the vault key so the old phone can't receive future changes.

Forgot master password

What can I do?

Use your recovery kit. Without the master password, the recovery kit or another paired phone, the vault can't be opened by anyone, including us. That's what keeps it private.
