The family vault
Fold it away. Together.
Passwords, insurance policies, property papers, bank details and the "who do I call" notes, encrypted on your phone and shared only with the people you pair with in person. Not on our servers. We don't have any.
Your vault lives on your phones. We run nothing that could hold it.
No email, no phone number, no sign-up with us. Ever.
No analytics or ads in the app, and none on this site.
Your master password and your phone. Share it with up to six family members.
Three steps. No cloud account with us.
Twofold trusts exactly one thing: the phones in your family's hands.
Create your vault
Choose a master password. Twofold prints you a recovery kit to keep with your property papers or in your bank locker.
Pair in person
Scan each other's QR codes and check that the numbers match. Only phones you've paired this way can ever open your vault.
Sync at home
On the same Wi-Fi, your phones swap changes directly and encrypted. Each phone also keeps an encrypted backup in its own Google Drive or iCloud.
This is all anyone else ever sees.
Type something private. It's encrypted right here in your browser with a key that never leaves this page. Twofold does the same on your phone before anything is saved, synced or backed up.
This page uses your browser's built-in AES-256-GCM. The app uses libsodium's XChaCha20-Poly1305. How Twofold's encryption works →
The things families scramble for on the hardest days.
Ready-made templates, custom fields, and room for scans of the originals.
Not just passwords.
- ⏰
Renewal reminders
Premiums, renewals and tax dates, worked out on your phone. Lock-screen alerts never show the private details.
- 🧭
"What to do" on every item
Which helpline to call, which agent to contact, which cupboard holds the originals.
- 👥
Roles for the family
Owners manage members, editors add and change things, viewers (say, your parents) can only look.
- ✈️
Always with you
Every paired phone holds the whole vault, so it opens in a hospital corridor or a bank with no signal.
Private by construction, not by policy.
We didn't just promise not to look. We built Twofold so there's nothing for us to look at.
What you get
- Encryption on your phone before anything is stored or sent.
- Only phones you paired in person can open the vault.
- Encrypted backups in your Google Drive or iCloud.
- Every item, document and note works fully offline.
What we don't have
- No servers holding your data.
- No Twofold accounts, emails or phone numbers.
- No analytics, ads or tracking. Not even on this website.
- No way to see, recover or hand over your vault.
Good to know.
What if I forget my master password?
Use the recovery kit you printed when you set up Twofold. Another paired family member can also still open the shared vault. We can't reset it for you, because we never have your keys. That's what keeps your data private.
What if I lose my phone?
The vault is locked with your master password and fingerprint or face unlock, so whoever finds the phone can't read it. On your new phone, restore the encrypted backup from your Google Drive or iCloud, or pair again with a family member's phone.
Do we have to be at home to sync?
Your phones sync when they're on the same Wi-Fi network. Everyone can always open their own copy anytime, anywhere, even offline. Changes reach the other phones the next time you're together on Wi-Fi.
Can more than two people share a vault?
Yes. Twofold is made for couples first, and you can add up to six family members, each with their own role.
Does it work between Android and iPhone?
Yes. An Android phone and an iPhone can pair and sync with each other.
