The short version: Twofold does not collect, store, see or share any of your data. We don't run any servers, and the app has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.
What you put in the app
Everything you add to Twofold (passwords, policies, property details, documents, notes and the names of family members) is encrypted on your phone. It is stored only:
- on your phone and the phones of the family members you pair with in person;
- in an optional encrypted backup in your own Google Drive (a private app folder), if you turn backups on;
- in encrypted backup files you choose to save yourself.
It is never sent to us. We have no copy, no key and no way to read it.
Google Drive backups
If you turn on backups, Twofold asks Google for access only to its own hidden app folder in your Drive (the drive.appdata permission). It can't see your other files. Your Google sign-in stays on your phone and is used only to read and write that encrypted backup. Google's own privacy policy applies to Google Drive.
Syncing between phones
Paired phones exchange encrypted changes directly over your local Wi-Fi network. Nothing passes through us. To do this the app asks for local network access (and, on iPhone, shows Apple's local network prompt).
Camera, photos and files
The camera is used to scan family members' pairing QR codes and to scan documents you choose to add. Photos and files you pick are encrypted and stored in your vault. Twofold doesn't access anything you don't choose.
Notifications
Renewal reminders are scheduled on your phone. They never include private details such as policy or account numbers.
Crash reports
Twofold includes no crash-reporting or analytics tools. Google Play and Apple may give us basic, anonymous crash statistics if you've allowed that in your phone's settings; these never include your vault contents.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics, web fonts or third-party scripts. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, under their own policy.
Children
Twofold is meant for adults managing their family's records. Family members of any age may be added by an adult who owns the vault.
Your rights
Because we don't hold any of your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. You're in full control: delete items in the app, remove the backup from your Google Drive (Drive → Settings → Manage apps), or uninstall the app to remove everything from that phone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. We'll never change the app to start collecting your vault data.
